The Mondaine watch brand hardly needs any introduction, because the most famous watch in this range, the official Swiss railway clock (SBB), enjoys worldwide recognition. The graphically clear dial with the striking hour and minute lines and the red second hand make Mondaine watches unmistakable.

The Swiss engineer and designer, Hans Hilfiker (1901-1993), created a design classic in the 1940s as an employee of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS): The Swiss railway clock. Based on the SBB large clock in Swiss railway stations, Mondaine Watch Ltd. developed the legally protected wristwatch, which has since become a classic, in 1986. Other models with the red second hand, such as the table and wall clock, the travel alarm clock and the pocket watch, have long been on offer.
