Amber Necklace - Teething Aid for Your Baby

You don't recognize your baby anymore? They're crying and whimpering, constantly putting their little hands in their mouth and drooling non-stop. Teeth are on the way! Another short and sleepless night, and when you look in the mirror the morning after, you realize: "No more of this, it's always the same drama when another tooth painfully pushes its way out. We have something that brings relief: the amber necklace."

Amber necklaces are said to ease teething for babies. Many mothers and even midwives swear by honey and cognac-colored amber necklaces. But do amber necklaces really help with teething for little ones?

Amber is fascinating!

Amber is a stone that has always fascinated people. Its unusual properties attracted human interest in the past and still fascinate us today. Mysterious: In freshwater, amber sinks to the bottom; in saltwater, it floats on top.

Opinions on its effectiveness for teething vary. Some mothers swear by it, while others attribute no effect to amber. There are no studies or proofs to support this. But one thing is clear: if so many mothers and midwives swear by it, there must be something to it! Nevertheless, amber necklaces look very pretty on babies, and perhaps amber does indeed have a positive effect on teething. My grandmother always said: Trying is better than studying.

Amber is an important protective stone for joie de vivre

Amber is fossilized tree resin and is one of the oldest and most sought-after gemstones and jewelry stones in the world. Its use as jewelry and for art objects dates back to the prehistoric times of humanity. The most famous amber art object to date was the Amber Room, which is still considered lost. Already in the Bronze Age, amber always traveled on the same trade routes from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean region, the so-called Amber Road. The gemstone's name is derived from the Low German "Börnsteen" (burning stone) and refers to its flammability. Its Latin name is "Electrum." Even then, it was known that it becomes electrostatically charged through friction. Thus, in ancient households, it was also used as a clothes brush, as it attracted dust when rubbed. In Greece, amber was called "Elektron," which can be translated as "bright gold" or "white gold." The scientific name is "Succinite," with the so-called "inclusions" being of particular interest. These are amber with insects or plants as inclusions. Amber has also been known as a versatile healing stone for ages. Thales of Miletus believed it could ward off pathogens, and Pliny the Elder attributed fever-reducing properties to it. Furthermore, in antiquity, it was considered a remedy for gout and dysentery. Worn as an amulet, its protective effect was supposed to ward off misfortune. Even in ancient mythology, amber had its firm place, according to which it was created by the gods. In the Middle Ages, amber was also attributed special healing powers, and Hildegard von Bingen used it for stomach complaints and bladder dysfunction. Later, it was ground and used internally for diseases of the liver, kidneys, and gallbladder, as well as for stomach and digestive problems. It was also considered protection against evil magic and was said to ward off witches, demons, and trolls. Amber oil was rubbed on for rheumatism. The famous physician and microbiologist Robert Koch was the first to scientifically examine amber and found that the succinic acid it contains can have an immune-boosting effect. Even today, amber is considered a protective and healing stone and is used in the pharmaceutical industry due to succinic acid.

Effect of Amber

Amber has always been considered a protective stone. Above all, however, it is known as a stone of joie de vivre and optimism. It soothes the mind and can alleviate depression and fears. It awakens the spirits and encourages creative ideas. Through its optimism, amber also promotes flexibility and decisiveness. These positive effects of amber lead to a more lively and attractive aura.
